Quick and easy to use when setting height of your bearer.
Ideal for use on areas where the ground has a “fall”, to provide a level bearer height.
Provides a “bottom of bearer” height from *160mm to 290mm.

Multi Purpose Support “Kit” MPS

Provides a bottom of Bearer/Joist from 90 mm-150 mm off ground

The KlevaKlip Multi purpose support (MPS) has been designed as a mid-sized support to cater for the “gap” in the market for decks that are a bit too high for our “Adjustable joist support” and a bit too low for our “Adjustable bearer support”.

The Multi Purpose Support has excellent adjustability, along with the strength and versatility to be used with either bearer/joist combinations, or with joists on their own. Coming in a “kit” form, it is efficiently packaged and quick and easy to assemble. All parts are fully hot dip galvanised.

The MPS can be used either with a bearer/joist combination (conventional deck building), or with just larger sized joists (eg 90, 140 or 190mm) when space or practicality does not permit a standard bearer/joist combination.

Span requirements (should be taken in conjunction with your timber span tables as timber spans are often your limiting factor):

– For 2.5 kPa rated decks, you must have a minimum of one MPS per every 1.8 square metres spread evenly across your deck.

– For 4.0 kPa rated decks, you must have a minimum of one MPS per every 1.35 square metres spread evenly across your deck.

Snap-Loc Clip for Trex

How does the Snap-LOC TREX Clip work?

KlevaKlip is a multi-board, fixed pitch decking system that provides consistent gapping between the boards. The new Snap-Loc clips allow the boards to be snapped into the clip by the weight of someone “walking the board into the clip”. The teeth of the clip flex, allowing the board to insert into the clip, then “snap” into the groove of the board, locking it in place.

Made from engineering polymer, the Snap-Loc clip is built to last the life of your deck.

For Super-Low Decks over concrete which provides top-of-joist height of 35mm

Finally there is a product in the market for those areas where there is minimal step-down from the house or apartment block to your patio area. Primarily consisting of an engineered aluminium extrusion and nylon base clips, the Patio Deck Kit provides a fixed height of 35mm to the top of the aluminium joist – meaning that a typical decking board arrangement can still be installed at less than 64mm over your concrete slab or tiled area.

With the major components being aluminium and nylon, there is no problems with rust, rot, or “moisture-wicking” from a timber batten into your decking boards, thus ensuring longevity of your decking boards.

The nylon base clips can be fixed to your concrete or tiled using Soudal adhesives, eliminating the need for penetration of the base surface – tests have demonstrated that the adhesion and longevity of use is more than adequate in all but the most stringent of situations (eg cyclone or tornado areas).

Types of decking boards to use

Whilst it is up to the individual, it should be remembered that ventilation under your decking boards should always be a consideration in building a deck– even over concrete, and even when your patio area has a cover over it.

When building low over concrete areas, it is best to use the most stable types of decking. The new generation of “capped” composite decking boards are ideal for use in this situation as the capping gives a good moisture barrier. Even better is the use of Trex Decking when combined with the KlevaKlip Snap-Loc clips – the Snap-Loc clips can even be adhered to the joists using the same Soudal adhesive, so no screws or nails at all are needed for your deck.

Of the conventional timber types – merbau is an extremely stable decking and is suitable for most situations, however its “bleeding” characteristics can be problematical. Many of the Australian hardwoods are great timbers, however it is advisable to get an opinion from the “manufacturer” regarding their suitability in your specific situation.
